TomTom adds support for 1st Gen iPhone

Article by on Thursday, 19 November 2009

Tomtom-carkitFirst generation iPhone users and iPod Touch lovers rejoice! You can now make use of the Tom Tom iPhone app, as long as you opt to purchase the in-car kit too.

The new version of the Tom Tom iPhone app also includes text-to-speech for UK English (amongst other languages), updated maps, a larger number of points of interest and new advanced lane guidance.

The Tom Tom car kit has a built-in GPS module, integrated speaker and line out. However, it’s not vital if you stick the TomTom iPhone app on an iPhone 3G or iPhone 3GS.

This may help TomTom out alot in the ratings stakes against other navigation apps as this is the only GPS app out compatible with the iPhone 1st Gen and the iPod Touch.
