Facebook gets an update

Article by on Thursday, 19 August 2010

Last night / early hours of this morning Facebook for the idevices got an update to 3.2.

There a a few things that the update brings us such as ‘Places’, the ability to send the privacy of each individual status and the ability to upload pics and vids in the background on ios4.

So when I updated the app this morning there was a few new designs in there…

The main menu has seen the addition of the ‘Places’ icon but also the ‘inbox’ icon has been redesigned.

While we are on the subject of the inbox, it has had an update itself, you can now see all the recipients of inbox messages.

Now back onto the ‘Places’, when I opened the app this morning and clicked the icon I was told that that the feature was not available in my area but would be available shortly. So here is a little bit about what ‘Places’ does for those of you that don’t know. Well it allows you to ‘check-in’ to places that you are such as pubs, clubs, cafes, and shopping centres so that your friends know where you are, it also allows you to see friends updates that are local to you.

The update know allows you to set your status updates and allows the updates to have different privacy settings. So for instance you can set one update so just your friends and their friends can see it, or just so your friends can view your updates.

Below is a list of all the things that the update brings us..

  • You can set the privacy of individual status updates.
  • See all recipients of inbox messages.
  • (iOS 4) Upload photos and videos in the background.
  • Fixed a delay when commenting on a post or posting a status update.
  • Fixed some Notes display bugs.
  • Fixed some reliability bugs in News Feed.
  • Places

Let us know in the comments below what you think of the update and whether or not you can use the ‘Places’ function.
