The main new feature is the ability to now initiate a hangout through the “Messages” section of the app. When you start a conversation you will now see a video icon next to the settings icon top right of the screen, this will bring up a similar screen to the one you got when joining a hangout prior to this update.

In addition to the hangout feature there is also a new UI for the Photos section.

The app, which is currently being created by an in-house team of government programmers, will be available to him by sometime in March next year. Cameron has let it be known that he is a massive fan of the iPad and uses a lot of popular apps, including the extremely popular Angry Birds, internet radio app TuneIn and also the BBC iPlayer.

The app is designed to allow the prime minister to attain recent crime statistics, the umployment rate and data to related to the NHS at the push of a button. The will also help him catch up with news which he would otherwise miss due to his busy schedule.

According to an article on the Telegraph, the idea for the app came to his advisers durging a trip to the United States. This new app will keep the prime minister full up to date with everything going on in the UK and also around the world.

The Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator app was surprisingly spotted on the AppStore a couple of days ago but has since sadly been removed by Apple.  Given the nature of iMAME and that it allows you to play multiple games for free, we figured it’d only be a short amount of time before Apple pulled it from the AppStore.

Even so, this does lead to questions about Apple’s application process for the AppStore and why the app was approved in the first place?  iMAME isn’t the first ‘contraversial’ app to have been approved lately, as iTether was approved earlier this week and that allows unlimited tethering for iPhones.  The question is how did these apps pass Apple’s strict process?

The Facebook App has just seen an update to version 4.1 and with it brings the new Facebook timeline that shows your status updates, check-ins, photos and other things that come with Facebook in more of a scrolling diary style in which people that your friends with can scroll down and see everything in date order.

Within the update there are more new features than just the timeline, here is the complete changelog

• Access to Mobile Timeline on iPhone (if you already have Timeline). iPad support coming soon.
• Access to friend lists, subscribers and subscriptions.
• Faster, better performance.
• Photos are easier to view, upload and comment on.

From the new version you can change not just your profile picture but the picture that Facebook are calling the “Cover Photo”.

Previous versions of the Facebook App have seen more bugs than bug fixes so lets hope that in this release Facebook have pulled their fingers out and sorted the issues.

Many users this morning are reporting they are unable to log in to the App Store or much else with their current Apple ID.

Apple are aware of the issue and according to a few people, including Orange UK, they are working on a fix.

I doubt we’ll ever find out what went wrong but hey, hold tight and we’ll let you know when it looks stable.

Originally released for the PS2 (remember that?), Grand Theft Auto is celebrating it’s 10th birthday this year, so releasing the game on iPhone and iPad seems like a fitting way to celebrate.

In the description Rockstar games say:

SkyDrive is similar to Dropbox and is free from the Appstore.

So what does SkyDrive have to offer, well first of all it has the backing of one of the biggest companies going and that can’t be a bad thing. The App allows you to access your files from anywhere. So how do you get SkyDrive, well if you already have a Hotmail or a Live account then you pretty much already have SkyDrive.

The cloud storage app offers users the ability to upload and view files right from your iPhone and also view files that have been shared with them. If you have a file on SkyDrive that you need somebody else to be able to see then you can share it with them by simply sending them a link via the App.

One of the nice features of SkyDrive is that it offers users 25GB worth of storage for free.

BBC have released their iPlayer app (which was originally just for iPad users) to now work for iPhone and iPod users, too. Except it is still for non-uk users.

- Download the app to enjoy a selection of free episodes.
- Watch high quality video and audio streaming over Wi-Fi or 3G.
- Subscribers can enjoy AirPlay. All you need is the latest version of the app, Apple TV firmware 4.4 and iOS5 for your iPad.

Updated to Version 1.3, the app now supports iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S and iPod Touch 3rd generation and above. One can only presume iOS5, too.

When the BBC will actually let UK users use the app too, I don’t know. Currently it costs around €6.99 for Ireland users to use the app, which is at first a free download.

One can only guess that, because the BBC is a UK service and gets money from our TV License, that they won’t release the app as they can’t generate any revenue from UK users using it.

Another example of their “Delivery Quality First” plan being opposite to what the title means…

Microsoft has released a new iOS app, called My XBOX Live. It basically lets users manage their XBOX Live accounts whilst on the move. It also makes messaging a bit easier if you are currently in a game, from personal experience. The app is also themed to the same style as Windows Phone 7 and the new XBOX Dashboard 2011 update, to coincide with their “metro” styling.
The app doesn’t have gaming of any sort, but lets users edit their bio, check messages, see what friends are online, and change their avatar. Xbox’s Major Nelson discussed the new features:

Read and send messages to friends
Manage your friends list, invite new friends
Read and Edit your full LIVE profile (name, bio, motto)
Change your avatar features/items with the avatar closet
View and compare your achievement progress with friends

It is available for free and for all XBOX Live users on iPhone, iPod and iPad.

The 12 Day of Christmas App is back in the Appstore and if your not sure what is is then after reading this I bet you will download it.

Basically the App for the 12 days after Christmas (26th Dec 0 6th Jan 2012) allows you to download either a Film, App, Book, Song, Music Vid or TV show for free, . Last year there where some great free gifts and for those 12 days its the first thing I check in the morning when I wake up.

NYTimes paid a visit to the Apple Store in Palo Alto, California on Black Friday and were seemingly offered a glimpse of a new technology Apple is using to speed purchases.

An employee at the store, under the name of Diego Aguirre, demonstrated an internal application to them running on iPod Touches that, for the last few weeks, has had the ability to show the in-store location of a shopper who has come to pick up a purchase. Spooky in store GPS?

An iPhone owner can use the free Apple Store app to shop before entering the store. When he or she arrives, the app’s location feature alerts store workers on their iPods and they can then find her and bring over the customers purchases. An apparent Sixteen customers used the app’s location feature to claim gear at the Palo Alto store on Friday, Mr. Aguirre said.

The Register puts it nicely saying “It should shave seconds off the whole “approaching a store employee and making eye contact” process.”. Indeed so.

Currently, Apple retail employees have already been able to locate customers who request assistance in the store “using a system similar to the button you press on an airplane to get help from a flight attendant”. iPads are mounted next to products in the store showing information and purchase options. Customers can tap a button on one of these iPads to request employee assistance, and a message appears saying a representative is on the way.

In theory, this will make customers feel like they can ask for assistance comfortably rather than being bombarded by employees who would love to make a sale, like in many other places.

Be interesting to see if this gets to the UK and how it works out.

Apple is said to be releasing their update to the App this Thursday world wide and their will be some exciting new changes in it.

The first of these changes will be the ability to order your purchase online and collected in store. This is nothing new to online ordering but info suggests that orders to be collected will be available in just 12 minutes.

Apple have worked the length of time to 12 minutes the following way…

• 3 minutes to get the order to the correct store
• 2 minutes for Apple’s back of house staff to get the order ready
• 7 minutes for the staff to get anything else ready that maybe needed.

Once the 12 minutes is up after ordering your item(s) you will be able to walk into the store miss out the queueing and just sign for your products and leave.

The most exciting feature to come to the new version of the App is still yet to come….

Say that you don’t want to order your product online and collect it in store, perhaps your just after a new iPhone case, well the new App will allow you to walk straight into an Apple store pick your product up off the self, scan it with the App and then walk out of the store.

This new feature will change your iTunes account (however you pay for your music, Apps) and then email you the receipt.

This has to be one of the best features ever, but it concerns me on how Apple will stop people walking out of their shops with products they have not scanned.

One thing is for sure as soon as the update is released we will be sure to give it a full review and test.

The update to version 1.1 offers the application up to iPhone 3GS, 4 and 4S users as well as the iPod touch 3rd and 4th gen.

This update also brings some new features to the table, offering users custom chords for smart instruments, support for additional time signatures and new settings for audio export. Other new enhancements to the popular app are:

• Adjustable velocity settings for the touch instruments
• New transposition options (semitones or full octaves)
• Support for recording in straight eighth notes, swinging eighths and triplets

The Chinese are testing an iPhone app for ordering government-funded contraception (Fondle something other than a mobe, perhaps?), but with limited success as the state won’t stump up for the quality brands.

The service currently covers Beijing and will provide three packs of ten every two months with free delivery if you’re central enough.
While you’re browsing you’ll get some health information too, but people who have been questioned by Global Times remained dubious about the brands being offered:

“These brands are completely new to me, so I don’t think it’s worth trying, considering the high risks,” said one 30-year-old chap when asked about the app, while a similarly aged woman was adamant that nothing unbranded was going near her: “If my boyfriend insists, I’ll say the sex is not going to happen.”

China apparently manufacturers about seven billion condoms annually, with two and a half billion being used locally and the rest exported. However, the app only provides free protection from lesser-known brands and there’s nothing like a BSI Kite Mark, that we have here in the UK, to ensure a minimum level of quality.

Poor Android users don’t get a free app, so will have to rely on the website. But then again, seen as iPhone users are so much more attractive, then they’ll need a lot more condoms, so perhaps an iTunes version makes more sense?

In a section of their recent blog post called “iOS 3: DIE DIE DIE!” – Camera+ has announced proudly that they will stop providing support after Version 2.3.3.

Explaining their reason for this, Camera+ state;

To put it bluntly, supporting iOS 3 a huge pain in the ass for us. It takes resources away from actually moving the app forward because we often need to special-case the code so that the app will work with the mostly obsolete OS. And this causes us to have to test many code paths. It’s simply not a good use of available resources, especially since there are so few people still using iOS 3.

In fact, the aforementioned I ♥ Analog FX Pack bug was caused by us having to deal with legacy code issues. It’ll be really nice to see iOS 3 support go away so that we can focus on adding cool things to the app and not supporting ancient history.

In order to put Newsstand in a folder you do need to have pretty fast fingers and it helps if you don’t actually want to use the app.

So here’s the magic:

To hide Newsstand simply drag one app onto another to make a folder (neither of these should be Newsstand).  Then whilst the folder is being created quickly drag Newsstand into it. Simples.

Obviously it does help if Newsstand is by the apps you’re putting into a folder, but success Newsstand is hidden from view.

There have been a couple of reported issues though with people saying that you can’t actually use Newsstand if it’s in a folder and that you’re phone will go a bit mental if you start to open it.  But if like me you have no interest in using Newsstand then this trick is great as you’ve got rid of that pesky little app!

So here it is all tucked away nicely in a folder:

While there was a problem (it wasn’t compatible with iOS5, which I am currently running), this has now been worked out. To do so, once a developer releases an update to their app with new iOS5 compatibility, it will make the app running on a lower firmware unstable, which is obviously a bad thing.

Today, we have a great announcement to make if your a fan of the Blogsy app for iPad: Fomola has worked so, so hard to put together some new features but most importantly, the best part of this updated announcement is that it is now compatible with iOS5. Another great feature that has been added is that Fomola has integrated iCould into Blogsy with this update as well.

So how would iCloud work with an app like this? I got to thinking as well, and it’s simple actually. Once you take a picture with the iPhone, it will send it up to the cloud (if you have it enabled) and within a minute those pictures will show up in Blogsy and the photo album. I personally think this is a smart move from Fomola and definitely a step heading in the right direction. Here is a quote directly from Fomola about when this update will be released:

So when can you get your hands on it? As soon as Apple releases iOS 5 to the general public. We would like to release it now but we can’t because it requires iOS 5. That’s right, because we are forced to make changes because of the new iOS 5 programming and because we are taking advantage of some new features of the iOS the next update of Blogsy will only work on iOS 5. So make sure you update to iOS 5 as soon as Apple releases it and then update to the latest version of Blogsy.

As always, we will update you when iOS5 and the new release of Blogsy is out, but for now, unfortunately we have to wait.

While this week we have heard that the Facebook App has been ready for release since may, a new rumour has started to say that the App may be released at Apple’s event this October.

This is a strange rumour considering that the Apple and Facebook are not the best of friends, since Facebook pulled out of the deal to link to Apple’s music social network Ping (remember Ping?)

It’s not only the Facebook iPad App that is said to be launched at the event thou, sources are also saying that Facebook may get the iOS 5 treatment that Twitter has got, enabling users to post and share things right from iOS 5.

Facebook are also said to be launching a new version of their iPhone App incorporating  HTML5 (hopefully Facebook will get this release right).

I guess October 4th can not come soon enough as these rumours are starting to really pick up some speed.

Last week saw the F8 Facebook conference that saw the new style Facebook timeline announced, but us Apple geeks thought that we would also see the introduction of the Facebook App for the iPad – No such look.

Yesterday an ex-Facebook employee came out and revealed all about the much awaited app.

The ex-employee Jeff Verkoeyen has since left Facebook and has now started a career with Google in the mobile department.

We already know that a iPad native version of  the Facebook App is ready for launch as a few months ago we posted on how the code was left inside one of the versions of the iPhone app, but a update quickly removed it.

“On Quitting Facebook

I’ve had many people question why I would quit working for Facebook. It’s a complicated answer, but it’s related to the fact that since January of this year I was the lead engineer on Facebook’s iPad app.

The app still hasn’t been released, though it was infamously leaked via TechCrunch. It was feature-complete in May and for reasons I won’t go into details on the app was repeatedly delayed throughout the summer. Over the past 8 months I dedicated a significant amount of time toward building this app, sometimes putting in over 80 hours of work in a given week in the hopes of meeting the “perpetually moving tow-weeks-away launch date” every software developer fears.

After the app reached feature completion in May and I was told that it was going to be delayed yet again, I stopped working on the project entirely. A few weeks later I decided to focus my energy on the Nimbus project.

It is now nearly 5 months since the app was feature complete and I haven’t seen it released except for when the project was leaked on TechCrunch. Needless to say this was a frustrating experience for me. The experience of working on this app was a large contribution to the reasons why I left Facebook, though that doesn’t mean it wasn’t a difficult decision.

I learned a lot during my time at Facebook. Facebook is truly an exciting place to work at and I am sad that my experience there was less than ideal. I had the great privilege of working closely with some of the best designers in the industry and shadowing David Recordon as we looked into the possibility of me working on their open source team. I spent a significant amount of time thinking about what I wanted to do and decided in the end that I needed to switch things up and step away from Facebook.

I wish them the best of luck going forward. Timeline was an incredible launch and I look forward to following the company’s progress going forward.”

Its strange to think that the Facebook iPad App was completed over 5 months ago and not released, surely the F8 conference would have been the ideal time to launch the much awaited app.

Is Facebook trying to hide something or with the new timeline feature coming in have they just held off releasing the app to get the new feature incorporated, I guess we will never know.

When I was young I had all the Where’s Wally? books and I would spend hours finding Wally, the Wizard, Odlaw and even the little dog Woof’s tail sticking out; so it’s fair to say that I was a little excited when I saw the Where’s Wally? In Hollywood app.

Believe it or not the first Where’s Wally? book was released in the late 80′s, so it’s great to see the franchise being bought into the future ready for the next generation of Wally fans. The app only costs 69p and so far it’s given me hours of fun.

When you start the app, you’re greeted by the bright lights of Hollywood which lead you to the menu screen. There are ten lively and fun levels to complete, each showing a different time, place or scene plus each level comprises of four mini-levels: finding Wally and his friends; spelling the word Hollywood; completing the Wizard’s riddles and finding certain scenes before the time runs out. On each level you also have the ability to find Woof’s dog bones which in turn give you a hint to where a character is – there’s hours and hours of fun to be had with this app.

During each level you use the touchscreen feature of your phone to move around the scene and zoom in and out; but what’s really great is that some of the characters in the scene move, which really helps to bring the game to life and quite often makes you laugh.

As you’d expect some levels are more difficult than others, with the last level having nearly every character looking like Wally (just like you used to get in the book), but the levels are all great fun for all ages which is one the great appeals about Where’s Wally? In Hollywood.

The app is available now in the app store costing only 69p and in my eyes is well worth every single penny.

Commenting only on its official Twitter account, Tweetdeck say that “As part of the process of making TweetDeck more consistent with Twitter.com & Twitter’s mobile apps, we’re removing deck.ly from our apps”.

Tweetdeck was recently bought by Twitter and has now moved in with TwitterUK’s home to become all cosey. Whether this is a move that Twitter has asked for is unclear.

Tweet-longer services, to post more than 140characters in a tweet by linking to a URL, have always been questionable in the twitter-verse. Widely used Twitlonger is probably the most widely used service until Tweetdeck incorporated their own Deck.ly service with their apps because it was more secure. Whether this makes a damage to the amount of users the app has is a question to be asked later on in the year.

Apps were not long ago being punished by Twitter HQ that used Twitlonger because they were allowing DMs to also be used by the service, thus making DMs no longer private. Most apps (if not all) have now fixed this issue. Any apps that do allow DMs to become public will be banned by Twitter for use.

Since Tweetdeck has been bought by Twitter, people have always wondered what is next for Tweetdeck and what will happen. No one yet knows. All we do know is, is that they have moved in together.

With iOS5 on the way, will we see a huge change with Tweetdeck apps in time or just a compatabilty fix? Time will tell.

Still no word on the widely anticipated iPad version, however.

Facebook undoubtably is one of the most popular social networking sites, so keeping their apps up to date is very important to them. This week sees the release of Facebook version 3.5, there has been quite a few new features added and as always a few bug fixes here and there.

Firstly they have added support for tagging your friends and places in posts, this feature has been needed for a long time Blackberry users have had support for this for a little while so converting over to the iPhone was due.

They have redesigned the profile pages adding things like where you work and what school you went to at the top of the page, allowing users to make sure the people that there adding are the right person.

I really like the post menu now it really gives you everything you need all at the bottom of the text box. The tagging section is very simple and easy to use. The location selection allows you to check in at any location nearby or add your own, just in case your in your own crib (yes somebody near me has a crib ). The upload photo feature is also placed at the bottom of the screen, allowing ease of access, pressing the button brings up another menu to select whether to select a photo from an album or take one straight from the camera.

Recently Facebook have been updating their privacy policy and now have added privacy controls so each post can be either posted publicly or just to your friends. Its also updated so it syncs perfectly to match your settings set on the main Facebook website. The Ability to share external links from a web view has also been added, allowing you to open websites up and instantly re share them.

Notifications for Facebook in my opinion have always been rather slow or not even arrive at all which is never good when you’re awaiting a reply, so Facebook have reportedly updated the notification speed now all I need is someone to comment on my wall!!! I never really use Facebook chat but for the brief period I have used it I found it sometimes slow and buggy and sending messages to a desktop sometimes took a minute or so, taking the “instant” out of instant messaging don’t you think? Facebook has been tinkering with the chat feature and in my opinion it seems to be running a lot smoother and the messages go through a lot quicker since the update.

What I like most about this update is that they have not tried to over do any of the updates, they have subtly managed to get these updates installed, at first I did not even realize some of them as being different as they integrate so well into the current user interface.

Unfortunately with this update Facebook STILL have not released the much awaited iPad version that was found in the last update. Chpwn has even reported that Facebook have removed the iPad code saying:

Facebook removed iPad support in their latest app update. It’s not possible for FaceForward to enable something that’s no longer in the app.

Those users currently using FaceForward it is probably best to stay where you are if you wish to continue using your iPad version. Overall this update is a great improvement for the feel of the app a lot of the bugs and issues seem to have been worked through, with all the new features added also it’s really does feel like Facebook are moving in the right direction. BoxHead the zombie wars is a game for iPhone and iPod from MEDL Mobile inc. and Sean Cooper. The object of this game is essentially kill everything that moves within 3 feet of you by what ever means necessary. This game mixes all the things that us gamers love with shoot em up’s, it becomes very addictive and very stressful at times especially in nightmare mode (trust me it’s a freaking nightmare)

When you first open the app you are greeted with a menu that headlines with “Select Battlefield” which straight away makes sure you know what you’re dealing with from the off. I like the menu layout its simple and allows you to just get down to business whenever you are ready.

At the lower point of the menu is your difficulty settings starting at casual for those not daring to risk it but a little easy in my opinion but for a first time just to get to know the gameplay it works. Hardcore is the second on the list which is more like it, zombies come at you more frequently and surround you very quickly. Now nightmare mode is exactly what it says on the tin an absolute nightmare in every sense of the word especially on the close combat map the smallest of the six you will survive no longer than a minute I assure you.

There are six maps available to play, varying in size and layout depending on what you prefer. The maps are called: Close Combat, Death Valley, Knee Deep, Welcome To Hell(nice touch), The Inner Circle and lastly Lucifers Den. I have spent most my time playing on the smallest map (close combat) because it seems more challenging because the zombies are coming from four directions very close to you making strategy very important as you can see from my screenshot:

The Gameplay is very fluid and doesn’t lag at all even when there is hundreds of zombies coming to seal your doom. Waves of zombies come at you, every time you clear a wave you go up a level. The higher you go the quantity of zombies rises as well as the types of zombies, oh yes there are different types with different strengths! There’s mummies, zombies, runners and even fire breathing devils! Who I must say wreak havoc when they arrive. The higher level you go the stronger the monsters get, instead of taking one bullet they require serious firepower to kill even with a shot gun.

Yes, those red things are DEVILS!

One of the good things about the game is how many varying weapons that are available you can choose between a Pistol, Shotgun, Uzi, C4 (hmmm), Barricades (you never know), Grenades, Explosive Barrels, MG Turret(very useful), Mini gun, Rocket Launcher and last but not least an air strike. Out of all the weapons any zombie killing fan will know the shotgun is undoubtably the best choice. Killing multiple targets with the shotgun not only scores you more points, it also saves you on ammunition. Guns are unlocked at certain levels and to resupply you with ammo the zombies kindly drop it once you’ve killed them (how sweet). The air strike takes a while to earn, quite a few zombies have to die for the pleasure. The air strike completely wipes the map of all zombie and awards you all the points from killing them very nice indeed, best to save this for when your surrounded by devils….

Within the pause menu your stats are displayed showing how well you’re doing in the current game and your highest ever position reached. It also displays the multipliers required to unlock the different weapons. Getting multipliers up to 50 to gain access to an air strike takes some time unless you go running round like a mad man with the mini gun, but I prefer the tactical approach. The pause menu even shows how many things you have killed for ultimate bragging rights against your mates.

The most important part of any zombie gaming experience is the gore, there is definitely enough to go round. Once you have killed any zombie, pools of blood appear on the floor satisfying every persons quench for gore. The good thing about this app on the gore side is it does not over do it, keeping it simple and enough to keep you entertained and make you say wow look what I have done.

As you can see from the screenshots this app has everything that you would ever need from a shoot em up. If you’re a strategy lover you can filter the zombies through your barricades whilst your MG turrets kill them from a distance. If you’re a gun and run kind of guy do not dispare you can have your cake and eat it with the Uzi or the Mini gun and you can also unlock auto firing on your shotgun! For the maniac in all of us.

Overall this app is a wonderful way to fill time whilst on the bus journey home. It’s amazing how quick the time goes whilst playing this app, I have been thinking ill play it for 10 minutes which accidentally turns into 30 minutes. Its incredibly addictive as you always know its possible to beat your highest achieved level or score, the variation of zombies per wave keep the game feeling fresh and never repetitive. The only thing this app is currently missing is Game center but this could come in future updates.

You can purchase the app from the app store here at a current price of £1.99 which is a small price to pay for how much entertainment you will get out of this. For those that STILL need convincing there is a lite version available too which lets you play the first 4 levels to get a feel for the game but I am sure you will be craving more carnage quickly. Please support app authors so they can keep awesome apps coming in the future…..

Tweetings is a simple and easy why to reply/tweet to your follows. It’s very customisable with a lot of features. The down side is that for me the UI is not that great.

If I was choosing to get the iPad version or the iPhone version I would go for the iPad.

When I was looking at Twitter clients for the iPad, I couldn’t find a good one. I came across Tweeting HD and I thought to myself, is this worth the £2.99 price tag. I asked people on twitter if it was better than Osfoora Hd which was that same price.

A few people said this App was good so I took the jump and haven’t looked back since.

Along with the release iOS 5 beta 6 and iTunes beta 6 Apple also released iWork for iOS beta 2. If you don’t know what iWork for iOS is, basically it is Apples work suit (like Microsoft Office), iWork includes Pages,Keynote and Numbers.

PhotoVine is owned by Google which is the number 1 search Engine in the world. In 2011 they decided to go in the Social Media business and they did, its called Google+.

Google+ is an invite only at this moment of time.

The Photovine iPhone application is a awesome way to share all your photos to your followers a bit like instragram. It used to be an invite only but as you can see in the What’s new section of the App Store its now out for all.

Since that day it has been hugely popular. Now in 2011 Facebook released a new app Called Facebook messenger. Twitter is a simple way to get in touch with everyone around the Word with over a million users signed up to twitter. Over the last year Twitter has been getting better and better and bringing more features to the site. Developers have created over 60 applications and Twitter themselves made an application for both iPhone and iPad back in october.

The Twitter app is available via the iPhone/iPad and Mac App Store and is free.

Reckless Getaway is an app available in the app store for the iPad that comes from the creators of Reckless Racing (If you couldnt tell) and involves a similarly modeled car trying to escape from the rozzers. Obviously this wasnt fun enough for the reckless crew so they have added a few fun feautures and things to do and achievements galore.

Theres a few secret tracks to travel on and some major jumping to be done, its very, very addictive and attempting to get four stars on every level requires a certain amount of dedication.(which ends up causing alot of frustration)

Crashing on this game isnt realistic to real life but for a game it makes it very fun to clip cars and use the pit manover on the police, it also involves gathering golden coins scattered around the maps that will increase your points.

There are 16 levels available to be unlocked via the point scoring, each section has 4 levels based around the same area, theres even one where you get to drive a truck!!! And if that wasnt exciting enough theres powerups to make you go faster and even one to push all cars around you away now if only we had that in the real world.

Its excellent to waste time whilst waiting for the mrs or something along those lines, time for some screenies…..

As you can see from the screenies this app is well worth the asking price of $2.99 or £1.99 so please support app creators to keep these great apps coming….

Google+ is a new social network that is from guess who, yeah thats right Google.

I have to say that after using the network for about a week, I absolutely love it.

The G+ app is available for the iPhone 4, 3G and 3GS and is available for free.

The app allows users to use Googles Circles feature, as well as streams and ‘Huddles’ (group chat)

Most of us here at MyGreatiPhone and MyGreatPhone have become addicted to G+ and we suggest you sign up as soon as is available to the public, or get a friend to send you an invite.

Update

Some parts of the app are not yet working on iOS 5 such as Streams and Profile.

Google+ is one of the hottest new things to hit the net.

If you don’t know much about it here is a brief description of it. Its Googles new Social networking project and what I have seen of it, it kinda looks like FaceBook but with added features, such as Circles (Groups if you where).

Google+ is currently in beta testing and requires an invite to sign up (no we don’t have any invites nor have we been invited to us it), but it seems that Google already have the iOS app developed and have sent it to Apple for their approval.

Here is what Google technician Erica Joy revealed on Google+

the Google+ iPhone app has been submitted to the App store (no not today, sometime prior to today) and is awaiting approval.

So it seems that as soon and Google+ goes live and members of the public will be able to use it, they will also be able to stay connected on their iDevices.

It usually takes Apple around 2-3 weeks to approve an App, but this one may be quicker or slower depending on if Google want it released the same time as Google+ goes live.

Lets hope that Google get the iOS right and without bugs unlike the FaceBook did with their app!

Apple have today launched its WWDC App for this years WWDC11 convention.

The app can only be used by those attending the event and asks for your iTunes log-in details, and this is why we are not posting a link to it.

The App allows users to look at floor diagrams, make reservations for sessions at the conference, look at the schedule of all the sessions and compose your own schedule with the sessions you’ll be at.

Here is a brief overview about the App…

Reserve Time at the Labs
The WWDC 2011 app allows you to make a reservation at the User Interface, App Review, iTunes Connect, Program Support, or Developer Publication lab. Once you make a lab reservation, it will appear in the schedule section of the app when you filter your view by Favorites.

Sessions and Labs Schedule
View the daily conference schedule including lunchtime and evening events. Filter your view to search by technology, platform, sessions, or labs.

Create Your WWDC Schedule
Tap on the detail view of any session, lab, or event. Then tap “Add to Favorites”. Your selections will be added to the Favorites section of the app and can be updated on-the-go.

Locate Sessions and Labs
Easily find your way around Moscone West with detailed floor maps. You can also tap on a specific session or lab for the level and location where you need to go.

Conference News
Stay up-to-date with all the announcements during the week. The WWDC 2011 app provides you with the latest news as soon as it’s announced.

As I just went to try and update my iMovie App and download the WWDC11 App my iTunes would not download. So I tried on my iPhone, and nothing there either, then on my iPad – same thing.

The App Store does not look down on an iOS device, it loads as normal and even starts to download the App to your Springboard but then the download just vanishes.

I have also tried to access the Mac AppStore but this seems to be down also. If I try to access my iTunes account information then it tries to load and then gives me a 5002 error after about 3 mins.

It seems that its not just me either, Twitter has just exploded with the same comments from people that the AppStore is down.

Nobody  seems to know why its down so it may just be Apple doing some background work on it.

Update….

It seems that the Stores in question are slowly starting to come back to life. I am now able to download stuff from the AppStore on my iPhone, but can not access my account from iTunes on my Mac.

Well today iWork is available for the iPod touch & iPhone  also.

iWork brings new document layouts and  smart zoom for viewing and editing data and the ability to change font style and size directly from the ruler when editing text.

Each App from iWork costs £5.99 ($9.99) to make up the complete iWork package. People who already own the iPad version of these Apps will be able to update for free to make it compatible with the iPhone and iPod touch.

The following devices will be able to use the new iWork Apps: iPad and iPad 2, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, and iPod touch (3rd & 4th generation).

Well thanks to FilippoBiga that will not longer be the case. FilippoBiga has created a tweak named Unfolder. The tweak is not yet released but he says that it should be on the ModMyi repo tomorrow.

Before Unfolder you had to remove each App individually from the folder by dragging the app out of the folder. Unfolder gives you folder a little ‘X’ in the corner when you make it wiggle, just like when you want to delete an App.

FilippoBiga has been nice when he has thought about this tweak he has added a popup for you confirming that you want to delete the folder. By clicking ‘OK’ then the folder gets deleted and the apps that it contained fill in the missing gaps on your springboard.

I have to say that this is a great tweak and one that could save a lot of time. Be sure to head over to the ModMyi repo tomorrow to grab it.

The Apple Store App is for iPhone only and is free. So why have an App when you can just use Apples own website, well this App has some nice little features.

Firstly since the new update the the Apple Store App allows you to order and customise your Mac just how you like it, this includes features such as bigger hard drives and more memory and other hardware.

The App will also allow you to order products and accessories straight from your iPhone, but it will also allow you to reserve items for in-store pickup.

The App uses location settings to easily show you your nearest store, showing your there opening times, address and there direct phone number.

So thats all well and good, but there is more. The Apple Store App will also allow you to book appointments with the Genius Bar, One to One and also book yourself on events and demonstration.

Thats not all thou, if you launch the App while in a Apple Store it will give you the ability to call an employee for help, book in for reservations and receive meetup alerts.

Can anybody say Apple Store 2.0 with the call for help feature? This is customer service at its best!

Basically the system works by using a small piece of hardware that plugs into the headphone port of your iPhone 4, iPod touch 4 or iPad 1 or 2 and an App that is free from the AppStore.

Using this system you can swipe a credit card to take a payment and then email a receipt to your customer.

There hardware costs $9.95 from the online store and comes with $10 worth of Square credit when you activate or Square account.

There is no monthly subscription when using Square as they take 2.75% of every payment taken and then pay the rest to you on a daily basis.

At the moment this is only available in the USA and payments can only be made with U.S.-issued Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover cards.

I have to say that is a great idea and has awesome potential for small business, because of the reason they got have to pay a monthly fee for a credit card machine and because the device is so small. I for one would love this to come to the UK, and as I sit here I can see hundreds of uses for portable businesses such as window cleaners, independent driving instructors and market traders to name just a few.

If this does start to be available outside the UK then we will be sure to let you know.

In the last update to the FaceBook app for the iPhone, FaceBook introduced ‘Places’. ‘Places’ gave users the ability to tell their friends where they were, via Checkins

Well with a update coming shortly to the app, FaceBook will be adding Checkins to the events section of the app. This will allow users to Checkin when they get to the event, and only on the day of the event.

“We’re currently testing the ability for people to check in to Events. The feature will be available with the next iPhone version release.”

I’m not a big fan of ‘Places’ and don’t really use it a lot (or FaceBook for that matter) but I can see why checkins would work for events. This will be great for event organisers as it will be a way to advertise their event to FaceBook users friends for free.

ZombieBooth is available from the App Store for 0.59p and brought to you by MotionPortrait. Inc.

The app is similar to the other apps of this type such as, BaldBooth and FatBooth, but has a twist to it.

ZombieBooth adds a depth to its images so that they look 3D, and also allows you to move your Zombie head around, as if it was alive, hey your Zombie will even bite back.

The app has the normal creation process where you have to line up the eyes and month with the markers, but then the app does the rest, and it does it quickly to, around 6 – 8 secs.

The app allows you to upload your zombie photo to Facebook and Twitter and also save them to your Camera Roll. The app will also let you record a short video of your zombie moving around and biting out, all with sound. Once you have recorded your short video it will then allow you to upload it to Facebook or Youtube and save it to your camera roll so that you can show your mates later.

ZombieBooth allows you to to check many different zombie faces once you have originally rendered your picture, but will also save your previously created renderings so that you can go back to them at any point and play around again.

Overall ZombieBooth is a great app to have a play around with, its quick, easy to use and lets you use pics that you can already stored in your camera roll.

Its a really fun app to get out when your with our mates, and MotionPortrait. Inc did a nice job allowing you to share your creations on your favourite social networking sites.

I say for the price of a Mars Bar you all should head over to App Store and grab ZombieBooth now.

This is especially helpful if you have had to do a refresh restore, or bought a new computer and lost all you App downloads.

This will be great little feature for myself as I have a clear out of Apps from time to time and delete them from my library even if I have paid for them (I get through a lot of Apps thanks to blogging), now when one of those deleted Apps gets an update that I may like I will know if I have already previously purchased it or not.

If you have it purchased but do not have the App installed the App Store will say ‘Install’ rather than the price.

This feature is only found on the iPad for now, but I can not see any reason why Apple would not put this feature into the App Store for other iOS devices.

So why you may ask is Twizzler such a good tweak, well since the update to the Twitter App (3.3) yesterday, your timeline had a somewhat intrusive black trends bar added to the top (see pic below). While some may enjoy having these trends forced upon them, I think it is more of an advertising platform from which to flaunt promotional trends.

Anyhow now thanks to chpwn and this tweak, Twitter for iPhone just got bearable again, not that a separate tweak should have to make it better or fix their stupid ideas. So if you dont want to see constant (Bieber) trends showing at the top of your timeline then go grab Twizzler now!

This may seem strange as BBM is a key feature of the Blackberry handsets and what drives a lot of younder users to them.

It has not yet been decided what the pricing of the BBM app would be but BGR have heard that RIM might make the software free to all users. The strategy is still being developed, however, and RIM may end up charging users a one-time fee or even a recurring fee for access to its BBM service on third-party platforms.

So why may RIM start allowing third party companies access to there one major feature, well it seems that Apps such as PingChat and Whatsapp are starting to tick RIM off, by offering Blackberry, Android and iOS users a free way of chatting with each other, and now RIM wants in.

So this all sounds excellent news for iOS and Android users but if RIM do offer BBM to third party companies then it will be a stripped down version only offering text and not picture, location or video messages to be sent.
