Now a company called True Knowledge has developed an App called Evi which is designed to go toe-to-toe with Siri. The Evi App is designed for all versions of the iPhone and iPad and is available to download from the App Store for £0.69 ($0.99). Evi is based on the same Nuance voice recognition as found in Siri and the licensing of which accounts for the price tag attached to the App. It also features integration with Yelp and other sources to deliver an array of information so it does seem to compare favourably with Siri.

Below is a list of features that Evi is claimed to be able to deliver on:

• Voice or text input – Chat to Evi in plain English and she will understand
• Local information for UK and USA – Shopping, news, dining and more. Evi knows where you are and gives answers based on your location
• One tap words – Allowing you to build your question super-fast
• Built in browser – No need to swap to a different browser, view web links within Evi’s app
• A learning and adapting intelligence – Rate Evi’s answers to help it learn more about the world
• More than a search engine – Evi takes the searching out of search, able to review and compare nearly a billion facts from her database to give you exactly what you need

But is it really that good to call it a rival to Siri?

One of the big things that makes Evi stand out is that it works in the UK, something that Siri users have been struggling with since it’s release so it will appeal to iOS users outside of the US. Another major point is that Evi will deliver all the information you need inside the App, so, whereas before Siri would ask to perform a web search for you, Evi will produce all the information into the App making it easier for you to get the information you want.

True knowledge have claimed that the App contains “Almost a billion facts” so if you ask Evi a question, such as ‘how do you make apple pie’ it will come back with a list of recipes with relevant links to the information you need to make it within the App and not needing to perform a web search, so it does have speed and ease of use firmly on its side and with the ability to “infer trillions more if necessary” it does seem on first impressions that Evi could be a good rival for Siri.

There are, of course, some things which Evi can’t compete with Siri on, such as the calendar integration and reminders so as a personal assistant Siri still claims the top spot but as an intelligent search engine Evi does seem like a good alternative for those of us who have older iPhone’s and iPad’s without the Siri technology.

One other good thing that could come out of the Evi App is it could spur Apple on to make improvements to the Siri App.

Detailed on their service’s blog, Instagram made by Burbn. Inc, has teamed up with Facebook – the most popular social networking site in the world, with over 800 million users on Facebook, 400 million of which sign in every single day – to bring you support for deeply integrated photo sharing. So now, not only can you share your beautiful pictures with your followers on Instagram, but you can have the option to send it over to your Facebook account for your friends and family to see.

That’s right, as stated above, when you share with Facebook, photos you have taken in Instagram from this point onwards which you wish to share to Facebook will be automatically added to a folder named “Instagram Photos“. If for some reason you don’t want or like   that name you can always change it by following these simple steps;

1) click the photo album of the title that you want to change, 2) then click “organize album“, 3)  click “edit info“, and finally; 4) change the name of the album as you wish. After you’re done, make sure to click “save changes“.

When you share your pictures from Instagram to Facebook, not only will your Instagrams appear full size on your Timeline, but every picture is consolidated into one helpful photo album for quick, easy reference. Instagram will now also allow you to share already taken photos to your Facebook account — simply by following these instructions to get started.

Apple has been listed as the official publisher of ‘GameStore’ and it can be found within the utilities category of the App store. There is a brief description as well which reads:

‘This application allows you to buy different things from within the app’

When you open up the GameStore app there is a products list which appears to be used to test the in-app purchase functionality. Users have the option to buy stuff such as two extra lives for $2.99, awesome sword for $0.99, Ax for $19.99 and big gun for $1.99.

The application also includes a shopping cart, payment options and settings. Although it doesn’t feature any content it is rated for ages 12 and up. This is because it features horror/gore themes, simulated gambling, profanity or crude humour, realistic violence and mature/suggestive themes.

Any purchases made through the GameStore app does go through and the users account will be charged, although, there is no actual game to support the purchased content so they have no functionality.

The mistake was caught by a German language website, iFun.de, which revealed the error on Monday. As things stand the application is still currently available for 99 cents and it was released on the 31st of December.

They’ve confirmed to their followers that their app will be available on Cydia in January, so not long to wait now!

For those that don’t know, the iTether app allows you to connect to the internet anywhere and at faster speeds than before. The app was previously available in the AppStore until it was pulled by Apple. Therefore the news from the iTether team that the app will be available on Cydia is great news.

Many users this morning are reporting they are unable to log in to the App Store or much else with their current Apple ID.

Apple are aware of the issue and according to a few people, including Orange UK, they are working on a fix.

I doubt we’ll ever find out what went wrong but hey, hold tight and we’ll let you know when it looks stable.

Luckily for Apple users this means that they’re more likely to attract the best developers in the world than Android, making iOS a better platform to use than Android.

It’s believed that Android have generated only $330 million for their developers, whereas Apple have generated $4.9 billion.  That’s a pretty big difference which only backs up the rumours that Apple have a bigger app market share than Android.  Piper Jaffray help to prove this rumour further by stating that Apple have 8-90% of app market share; with a total of 14% of apps being paid for, whereas only 1% of Android apps are paid for.  Therefore it’s no surprise that Apple Devs receive a higher pay packet.

Even though the popularity of Android has and is still increasing, it’s still believed that Apple will have 70% of the app market share in the next four years – so if I was a Dev I’d be giving Apple a call!

At first glance I was a little apprehensive as the icon isn’t very striking, but I thought “what the heck” and gave it a chance. The aim of the game is simple – The Warrior Viking Ragnar will send his mighty ThunderSword skyward, it is your job to keep it up there.

As the ThunderSword flies across the sky you will encounter many explosive objects designed to slow you down and inevitably bring you back to earth, thus ending the game. These include;

• Small birds
• Thunder clouds
• Tiki-Gods
• Grizzly bears
• Asteroids
• Rainbows
• Aliens

To help you, there are 3 types of gems that when hit, send you higher – faster. Like I said before, this game is quite addictive but there is one thing that stands out, and that is the epic, save the world style background music! It could be straight out of a Viking movie! It really spurs you on to reach new hights.

With GameCentre integration you can also keep track of your top scores and try to beat your friends.

All in all this is quite a simple looking but highly addictive game and I would recommend it to you all.

Supercharged version 2.0 of the updated ringtone application is a much more robust and clean version of the app. Help videos, introduction wizard and More apps sections have been moved under one button which is topped up with an HD iOS5 redesign.

We listened closely to all our fans and app users to come up with SoundCloud integration. You will see how neat the upload and ringtone sharing were implemented thanks to huge SoundCloud music share experience.

Ringtonium 2.0 for iPhone works, looks and feels like a professional tool for creating ringtones. We are hoping all of you will feel the same while using Bamboo’s revamped app.

Recently Marc CK Lia tweeted to the CO-Founder and CEO of FlipBoard Mike McCue saying the following tweet;

@mmccue Hey, dude, you told me that Flipboard for iPhone is coming in late autumn. How comes with it? I hope I have your word :S

This was because Co-founder and CEO Mike McCue confirmed at SXSW earlier this year that an iPhone app was in the works and told Bloomberg in April that it would ship at the end of the summer but summer past and it has still not been released.

So here we go, will it be released soon? We hope so.

Ever since i got the iPad, I was really annoyed because one of the main apps I use on my iPhone is the Calculator app and it wouldn’t have taken much to take it over to the iPad too, but they didn’t. I don’t know why but Apple also chose not to include optimised versions of many of the other stock iPhone/iPod apps.

I have used many Calculator apps like CalculatorHD, Calculator HD+ and many more, but this one was a great purchase. Once you open the app for the very first time you will be greeted with a Pop Up saying “Welcome to Calculator HD…..” tap ok and then your in, Calculator HD for iPad has a Desk like feel to it in the background you will see a pencil, pen etc (that can be turned off in Settings).

Calculator HD for iPad has 8 modes. The first four modes are for landscape orientation and the other four are for portrait orientation. The Names are the same but to active them all you need to put it in either landscape or portrait. The names are Basic, Note, Tape, and the one you first open is Scientific.

The Basic mode is in the name, it’s Basic, it looks like the stock iPhone app.

The Note mode is the one I use the most, and I absolutely love it because I can open the app and immediately do some quick calculations without needing to type stuff into the keyboard to remember. The Note mode adds a notepad on the side of the calculator, which actually works to write on, preferably with a stylus.

The Tape mode takes the basic calculator and adds a receipt-looking paper strip on the side, like you would find on some real life calculators in stores.

The Scientific mode adds more advanced calculator features, sort of like you’d find on the built in iPhone calculator if you use it in landscape mode.

To select a mode all you need to do is tap the Settings logo down in the bottom right and Select a mode you want. Also in settings are;

• Tape Mode only.

The Interface section.

• Button Sounds

• Decorations

All together I think it is a really good application and I recommend it to anyone how is looking for a great Calculator app and with the 8 modes you can’t go wrong.

Recently a well-known jailbreak developer, @iH8sn0w, who is famous for such tools as sn0wbreeze, iREB, iFaith and other similar tools, has been hard at work to fix this problem with iBooks. He has posted a video showing iBooks on a jailbroken iPod Touch running iOS 5, but he said that this fix will not be released for public since it’s not yet stable.

As you can see below, the iBooks opens normally without any crashes.

Follow the steps below (credit goes to  iDownloadblog.com for breaking the story)

Step 1: Uninstall iBooks, and then reinstall iBooks from the App Store. Do not open the app.

Step 2: Open iFile, and copy iBooks.app from /var/mobile/Applications/(iBook’s folder)/ to /Applications. You can use SBSettings, or just go through each folder to identify the correct iBooks folder. If you don’t have a lot of App Store apps, this should be simple.

Step 3: Tap on /Applications/iBooks.app/Info.plist and select property list editor. Tap CFBundleIdentifier and change com.apple.iBooks to com.apple.iBooksFix

Step 4: Exit iFile and Respring.

Step 5: Delete the original iBooks app (rounded corners) and keep the square iBooks app.

Step 6: Since you can’t use the iBookstore on device, and you can’t sync with iTunes, upload your .epub files using the methods outlined on the video, dropbox, etc. From there you can open them using iBooks where you will be able to read them.

Please note that there might be some problems with ibooks but at lest its something.

theys are some of the problems:

•  The iBooks icon will not be rounded rectangle. Instead, it will be a circle icon. Howoever, it can be fixed by correcting the png files
•  You won’t be able to sync iBooks store with iTunes and no purchases on the device.

Please let us no how it works.

This update now supports the just -released iPhone 4[s] (dual-core A5 chip) and it also fixes a previously reported inbox bug.

When Apple releases a firmware, big or small, developers alike, whether it is a AppStore developer or a Cydia developer, need to update their releases to bring them up-to-date and make them compatible with the current firmware. If they don’t, then the iDevices they are installed on may not work properly, and may cause you to require a restore to fix the problems. Well, a well known Cydia developer named @chpwn started updating all of his jailbreaking tweaks from Cydia in order to make them all compatible with iOS 5.

This update is a smail update which fixes some minor issues and expands support for videos imported from external cameras.

iMovie 1.2.2 is available under the updates tab in the iTunes AppStore as usual, or if you haven’t downloaded it yet, then all you need to do is search for “iMovie” in the AppStore. Please be advised that there is a price tag associated with this app, so be aware of that before you install it.

Apple has just pushed out Find My Friends, just a couple of hours before iOS5 is due to be released (6pm UK time).

It is not available for search in the App Store, but you can download Find My Friends by visiting iCloud.com on your iPad or iPhone. and then simply click the download link and you will be forwarded to the App Store where you can download Find My Friends.

Find My Friends allows you to share your location with friends or family.

Airport Utility has also been released, again it doesn’t yet appear in search but we have a direct link here if you are in the UK (it should work worldwide though). You could also, if you do use an AirPort station for your Wi-Fi network, go to Wi-Fi network settings for your AirPort station, click Manage This Network. You will then be prompted to download the app which will then take you to the App Store.

For both, you need to be on iOS5 and above.

While there was a problem (it wasn’t compatible with iOS5, which I am currently running), this has now been worked out. To do so, once a developer releases an update to their app with new iOS5 compatibility, it will make the app running on a lower firmware unstable, which is obviously a bad thing.

Today, we have a great announcement to make if your a fan of the Blogsy app for iPad: Fomola has worked so, so hard to put together some new features but most importantly, the best part of this updated announcement is that it is now compatible with iOS5. Another great feature that has been added is that Fomola has integrated iCould into Blogsy with this update as well.

So how would iCloud work with an app like this? I got to thinking as well, and it’s simple actually. Once you take a picture with the iPhone, it will send it up to the cloud (if you have it enabled) and within a minute those pictures will show up in Blogsy and the photo album. I personally think this is a smart move from Fomola and definitely a step heading in the right direction. Here is a quote directly from Fomola about when this update will be released:

So when can you get your hands on it? As soon as Apple releases iOS 5 to the general public. We would like to release it now but we can’t because it requires iOS 5. That’s right, because we are forced to make changes because of the new iOS 5 programming and because we are taking advantage of some new features of the iOS the next update of Blogsy will only work on iOS 5. So make sure you update to iOS 5 as soon as Apple releases it and then update to the latest version of Blogsy.

As always, we will update you when iOS5 and the new release of Blogsy is out, but for now, unfortunately we have to wait.

Cydia has been around for a long time now and houses some amazing tweaks. Most users who jailbreak just find what they need and download, not giving a second thought as to where the packages come from. Well recently ModMyi added a new feature to their repo that allows the unsung heroes, aka the developers behind these amazing tweaks, to be listed with links and a list of their work.

So far the directory only lists developers that post their work within the ModMyi repo, but we are hoping that eventually it will be adopted by the other major repos, or even integrated into the Cydia interface itself.

The directory not only helps the developers to get the credit they deserve but it helps the user by making it easy to find the best tweaks by their favourite developers.

Today I’m going to Review a great Productivity app called Blogsy. Blogsy for iPad is available via the iTunes AppStore for £2.99, It has been created by the Developers over at Fomola,  Download Here. Right, now let’s get on to the part you have been waiting for.

Before I came across Blogsy I was using WordPress for iOS. Personally I think Automattic dropped the ball a little as for the most part the app was full of bugs and crashes, and when you are using a tool that affects your blog, it is important that that tool works properly. It was very hard to get use to and I kept on having to go to safari to get all the images then back to the WordPress app to put all of the images in place. After I gathered all that together I needed to put the coding in (HTML) and put the images in the right place which I needed to go to the computer to do all of that, that was a nightmare for me because I shouldn’t have to go to the Computer at all and that’s why I moved to Blogsy. In fact this article you’re reading now was entirely written and edited in Blogsy. All the formatting, images and links went through Blogsy’s content editor.

Once you open the app for the very first time you will be greeted with a login page where you can login to either Blogger, WordPress blogs or Posterous (You can set up as many accounts as you have), after all of that you will see an article from the Team showing you a little bit of info about the app it self.

In the settings (near the title) you can find all of your information for your article, the title, publish date, categories, tags, allow comments, status, visibility, and post type. There is a local tab were you can find all of the articles that you have drafted up in Blogsy. There is also an online tab so that you can see all of the posts already created/published on the sites you have added. In the Settings on the right hand side You will find all of the how-to videos/guides and social sites that blogsy has integrated so that you can login to them, also there are some general Settings.

On the other side of the title bar you will find a quick add sign, this is where you can add a new article. The current article you are working on will be moved to the local tab.

What is really good about this app is the offline mode. This allows you to create articles and next time you are connected to the internet Blogsy will publish them.

The Blogsy team has implemented a “Rich Side” and a “HTML Side” that allows you to edit your article like never before, you can see the “Rich Side” by swiping Right and you can see the “HTML Side” by swiping 3 fingers Left. The “Rich Side” is where you can drag and drop images, add links, format text and change image and video properties and on the “HTML Side” you can write text, edit & write HTML and paste embed codes.

On the Tool bar (at the top), you can have quick access to the HTML code on both the “Rich Side” and the “HTML Side”. You also get all the regular features of a WYSIWYG editor and just on the “HTML Side” you will have the ability to add a More tag as well as all of the Stuff on the “Rich Side”.

On the right side of the screen you’ll see icons that represent Flickr, Picasa, YouTube , Google Image Search, A Safari Browser, Photo album And WordPress media. If you want to get text, images or video from any of those’s sources you just drag that information over and drop it into your blog, this needs to be on the “Rich Side”. From the browser you can also grab images and just drop them in place from any site, it is that simple.

After you get your content you can style and resize it to fit just by clicking on it.

The app is very easy to setup and with the Help article it is very easy to use.

I have given four and a half stars because since I have got this app I have notice that I have been writing a lot more than with the WordPress app, plus I haven’t had to use a computer to centre the images. The UI and the integration with the built in services like Safari,YouTube, and Google image are perfect. Having a “Rich Side” and “write Side” is an excellent idea and well thought out. The “Offline Mode” is well executed and I have used many Apps that have WordPress built in and not one of them has a feature like this. The Drag and Drop Feature is a great way to move/edit videos and images so that is why i have given four and a half stars.

It would have been 5 but there are some little features that I would still like to see in Blogsy but the about page on the website has a voting system for the next features to be added, you can vote for your next feature here.

Other than that it is an excellent app and one of my most used iPad apps.

Today I am going to review the game Bejeweled Blitz 2. This is originally a game from Facebook which is now available in the App Store free of charge. It has been created by PopCap Games!

You can choose to play in either Classic, Action or Endless mode, or you can connect through Facebook and challenge your friends in Blitz mode. The aim of the game is to match 3 or more of the same Gem, the more you can get in a line, the more coins you will get.

Once you pass certain targets in Blitz starting at 25,000 points you are given the option to share your achievement and post it to your Facebook Wall. You can earn the ability to buy special Gems that award special moves, such as a Cat which will make its way around the board collecting almost all of your Gems to help you. I personally have not yet managed to save up for any of these yet.

When you click on the information icon, it gives you the option to go through the Help options and also the Legal sections, which opens up as new web page. You can also change the settings such as sound and music.

You can also see where you rank amongst your Facebook friends. The more points you score, the more coins you earn. There is a link where you can purchase more coins if you don’t have the patience to wait. With the coins that you save up, you can purchase special powers, such as special Gems being hidden on the board which will cause an explosion and blast certain rows away.

They have reportedly found a user land exploit (Like jailbreakme) for iOS 5. This will be one to keep an eye on for when iOS 5 is available to the public. It seems they may have been adding review counts and scores that are not true or accurate confusing people, only a good eye would have noticed this that is why Nazaroth was on the case. • Another rumor began circling this week, it was said that iOS5 Beta 8 was due to be released on Friday 16th of september. If you’re reading this now you realize that this has already passed as I have written this, proving that not all rumors are 100% true. • “Fetch” – fetch current PARTIAL blobs on device.  Should complete in under 10 or 15 seconds.  Puts the set of PARTIAL of blobs on your computer as a plist.  Checks if Cydia already has a full set for this device and build.  If not, it submits this PARTIAL set and returns Cydia’s acknowledgement or rejection

• ”Verify”  - cryptographically verifies existing blob files from either redsn0w, TinyUmbrella, or Cydia server.  You can select a whole bunch of blobs to verify at once if you want (like the TinyUmbrella directory)

• “Submit”  - both verifies and submits one or more blob files to Cydia.  This lets you copy your entire TinyUmbrella cache of blobs up to the Cydia server

• ”Query” – queries the Cydia server for all available FULL or PARTIAL blobs for a given set of ECIDs

• “Stitch” – stitches either FULL or PARTIAL blobs to a STOCK or CUSTOM IPSW

1. FULL blobs stitched to a STOCK IPSW gives you a completely self-contained signed IPSW that iTunes will accept without any tricks (no need to go into pwned DFU mode, no need to start TinyUmbrella TSS server, no need to redirect to Cydia server for blobs).

2. PARTIAL blobs stitched to any IPSW requires you to go into pwned DFU mode before running iTunes.  No need to start TU or use Cydia though.

3. stitching either FULL or PARTIAL blobs to a CUSTOM IPSW also requires a pwned DFU start before iTunes restores.  No need to start TU or use Cydia though.

4. stitching is NOT yet supported on iPhones (well, at least not tested).  Need to work out the baseband part of the restore process.

5. will eventually support fetching the blobs directly from Cydia instead of a file on your computer.

Tweetings HD has been updated again to offer a few bug fixes and some more new features.

Here’s what’s New
+ Find suggested users based on who you follow. Available from the search tab. This is a beta feature
+ View a user’s recent photos from their profile
+ TweetMarker and sync support for list timelines

Changes:
- Moved Suggested Users by category to it’s own section on Search tab to add with the new based on who you follow feature.
- TweetMarker and sync is now updated more frequently that just backgrounding the app

Bug Fixes:
- List timeline toolbar wasn’t black in Subtle Carbon theme
- List type bar wasn’t black in Subtle Carbon theme
- Retweet type bar wasn’t black in Subtle Carbon theme
- Search tweets with a retweet count appeared at the bottom of the search timeline rather than the top
- Couldn’t preview attached pic.twitter images when attaching to a new tweet
- Removing the last attachment from the preview viewer wouldn’t turn off the attachment marker on the ‘Library’ button under keyboard
- Hashtag compose autocomplete did not disappear when pressing backspace button
- Picture links immediately followed by a quotation mark would fail to correctly display a preview

You may recognise it, the ad is running in both the US and UK, however there are different versions for both. I saw nothing unusual with the US version but when i saw the UK version something struck me as odd, but I will get to that.

The ad goes through some apps in the AppStore, the companies behind these apps most probably paid a small fortune to have them featured in the advert too. But what about those not fully featured but still visible. On the home screen we see the likes of Twitter and IMDb, and of course there are those shown in the AppStore itself.

Within the first 5 seconds of the ad and appearing as soon as the AppStore is opened we see the “App Starter Kit” section, and it probably comes as no surprise to see Facebook (yes I know, here comes another Facebook rant – well sort of) top of the list. Nothing unusual there, it is probably one of the most downloaded apps in the AppStore, but that doesn’t mean that users are satisfied with it.

Last week I featured an article on how dissatisfied users are at the current state of the FaceBook app, and one of the things I noted was that the app barely has a 2 star rating from almost 3000 ratings.

Here we see Facebook with a 4 star rating from over 35,000 ratings. Umm, I don’t think so. Assuming these ads are pretty current these numbers are way off! Even if the ad was from months ago, it has been a very long time since Facebook was anything but a 2 star app amongst their users. As I am aware, when an app receives an update, reviews are unchanged, but ratings apply only to the newest update, but come on? These ratings look like they have been taken from the first month Facebook appeared on the AppStore.

What is more disturbing is that right below the Facebook app we see Twitter with a 2 star rating from just over 1000 ratings, huh? That can’t be right, Twitter is a far superior app than Facebook and actually works as it should.

As you can see it has a much healthier 3.5 stars which would be higher if people understood that when the Twitter API is having issues, so does the app, it is not down to the app itself, unlike Facebook.

To make sure the ad wasn’t using pages from the US AppStore I checked and Facebook has a 2.5 star rating with mainly negative reviews, and Twitter has 4/5 stars.

So what is going on with these adverts? Is the highest bidder being made to look better than they really are? Who knows but there is something fishy going on here.

Maybe I am making something out of nothing but these don’t look very accurate to me.

When Facebook Messager launch it was only available in the United State, that’s because of  all of the drama in the United Kingdom but recently an update came out to Facebook Messager  which brought some Features but most importantly  that it’s now available worldwide, YEAH.

Facebook Messager is a new kind of way to message people from around the world whether it is a family member or one of your friends it is easy to message people.

Here’s what’s new in the update

• Send messages instantly to other friends who have Messenger
• Chat with friends who are on Facebook
• Get free push notifications for incoming messages
• Reach friends via text message if they don’t have Messenger yet
• Create group conversations for making plans on the go
• Add more friends to group conversations at any time
• Attach photos and location to messages
• Control alert settings for each conversation

So you would assume that a company as large as Facebook with their many developers could provide their iPhone users with a near flawless application with which to update their status from, right? WRONG! The Facebook app has a start rating of 2 in the AppStore, it would be one were it not for the handful of people that don’t seem to have any issues with it.

Two stars?? Facebook? Go and check it out for yourself, the poor reviews make interesting reading. The app has gone downhill since Joe Hewitt quit working on it, so who is working on it now? Geohot? Doubtful, even he wouldn’t release unfinished applications like this.

So what exactly makes the Facebook app the bane of so many peoples daily lives? There are many reasons but to name a few;

• Constant crashing – Nearly every bad review mentions crashing of some sort, heck some people can’t even open the app without it crashing.
• Inability to perform the simplest tasks such as commenting on a friends status or uploading a photo.
• Loading……loading…..loading! We all seem to have one persistent friend that stalks us all at one time or another – his name is Loading!
• Non existent updates – I am currently suffering from this one. The last update that Facebook released 3 days ago was a major update. It claimed to give users the ability to tag friends and locations in status updates. I see no evidence of this whatsoever, the version number shows latest and I see changes to the profile tab, but I like many still see the old status update page, why? How is it possible that some see the updated features and others don’t? below is an example of what it “used” to look like and what it “should” look like;

So the above is the old style with just the option to change who can view your status update.

Below is how it “should”appear now, new buttons new functions.Sadly I like many still see the old style. Maybe Facebook released the new features and then pulled that version quickly, if that is the case then some kind of statement to that effect would please a lot of users.

How has your experience been while using the Facebook app?

Have you ever met someone who you were sure would be a perfect match for you but they turned out to be the opposite? Well now thanks to the developers over at MEDLmobile and LA Actor & Director Jim Eshom, there is an app to help you.

Boink allows you to match your sexual compatibility with others by “boinking” your iPhone’s together using the built in Bump technology.

Users can set the likes, dislikes, kinks & fetishes of their most intimate interests using the sliders. Then simply “Boink” your iPhone’s together to get a compatibility rating before you go too far.

The important thing is to be honest when setting your preferences, otherwise it won’t work and you will just end up with an unsuitable partner.

Currently Boink is free from the AppStore but this may change soon so go grab your copy quickly!

When I was looking at Twitter clients for the iPad, I couldn’t find a good one. I came across Tweeting HD and I thought to myself, is this worth the £2.99 price tag. I asked people on twitter if it was better than Osfoora Hd which was that same price.

A few people said this App was good so I took the jump and haven’t looked back since.

Here’s what’s new in version 4.1.0

Changes:
- Timeline syncing has been re-written to work when resuming or going to background rather than on every refresh
- Improved account switching
- Removed timeline photo icon if photo previews are enabled

Bug Fixes:
- Shortcut menu from mini conversation view shouldn’t have been there and would have caused a crash if used
- Issues decoding t.co versions of pic.twitter.com photos
- Timeline gaps in lists could sometimes cause a 404 error

HDR was announced by Apple back in 2010, which was a feature in the Camera App that will make your pictures better but it was just available for the iPhone 4. Thats were this app comes in, Pro HDR will make your picture much better, plus you can edit right in the App to make stunning pictures. Also you can show the Grid, switch to the front facing camera, enable auto HDR and crop and share to 6 social sites.

Pro HDR is compatible only with iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, and iPod Touch 4G with camera, running iOS 4 or newer. Pro HDR will not install on iPhone 3G or iPad 1.

Pro HDR is available for Free / £1.49 via the AppStore.

Heres what’s new:

Gameloft, one of the largest gaming companies out there with over a billion Downloads in the AppStore, have put The Sims 3: World Adventures game for free in the AppStore for TODAY ONLY. After the promotion period it will go back to £1.99. The game basically allows you to control a group of people, “The Sims”, and take them on thrilling adventures to world famous destinations.

Don’t forget, iOS 5 is currently in Beta. On Beta 6 and for Apple iOS Developers only. Don’t attempt to install it illegitimately. You’ll slap yourself silly when it doesn’t work.

We expect iOS5 to be announced in September with a GM release.

PhotoVine is owned by Google which is the number 1 search Engine in the world. In 2011 they decided to go in the Social Media business and they did, its called Google+.

Tweetings is a simple and easy why to reply/tweet to your follows. It’s very customisable with a lot of features. The down side is that for me the UI is not that great.

If I was choosing to get the iPad version or the iPhone version I would go for the iPad.

Twitter is a simple way to get in touch with everyone around the Word with over a million users signed up to twitter. Developers have created over 60 applications and Twitter themselves made an application for both iPhone and iPad back in october.

There are a lot of bad and good notetaking apps out there but not all good apps are that very customisable and haven’t got the best UI design.

I have found a very customisable app with the best UI I’ve ever seen in that category.

Here are some of the COOL Features in the app:

• Ability to sync with your Dropbox account witht he option of importing from Dropbox
• The slider allows you to make new notes and move notes/todo’s around
• Three themes which allow you to customize your App
• Assorted other great Features in the app.

ThinkBook has 4 and a half Stars in the AppStore right now, so you know that this app is at the top end.

ThinkBook is a paid-for App and is £2.99 in the iTunes AppStore and is for iPad users only.

The developer is called Bitolithic and they really do listen to their comments.

Since I got it, I have slowly been deleting all the other todo – notes – outliners – lists etc and similar apps from my iPad.

I like the interface, it is smooth, fluid and (once you understand how it works) very intuitive.

I wish it would allow to export / import file in either Life Balance (.lbd or .lbe) or MLO formats, so I could sync with my desktop outliners, but that may come in the future.

Still No Printing Or Security Features

The update is welcome, and the addition of email integration will no doubt be appreciated by many of it’s current users. Also some of the tweaks such ‘double tap’ of the “Slider Bar” makes it feel more integrated, but I’m am somewhat disappointed that of yet no Passcode or security features have been implemented. I use this app regularly as it’s great for brain storming as well as quick note taking when in meetings, but because it has no security at all, I find I cannot use it half as much as I would like. On top of this, it still fails to implement a print feature. Again something that is needed. It’s not a priority or essential or a ‘finger painting app’ or similar, but this is after all an application for the ‘written word’ so to speak!

I really hope the developers will implement these two features fairly soon, or I will have to abandon this app for something else, which would be a shame as it is a unique application.

I really love this app. It is extremely intuitive and the Welcome notes & tips are well written.

It is a good sign when a developer takes the time to create instructions in a clear and precise manner without being patronising or loaded with techno babble.

Conclusion

The app is very easy to setup and with its support for DropBox (which is essential nowadays) you need never be without your documents!

The interface, with it’s “Slider” tool is a joy to use, and makes for very quick work.

I have given four stars as I have held one back, and that’s due to the lack of a Passcode lock. I cannot think why this would have been left out as it’s commonplace in most applications of this type, perhaps the developer will include this in a future update.

Other than that, it’s one of the best apps in this category.

Pros and Cons

Pros:

• Very customisable.
• Able to sync with Dropbox.
• Guides in the App.
• The Slider.

Cons:

• Not Universal.
• Can’t delete Tabs.
• More Themes.

It basically gives you some some pre-loaded websites where you can access, stream and download music. Now granted, as with anything free, the majority of music on offer is generally unheard of and unsigned, but you may just find some gems.

What is interesting though is that you can also add the url to ANY “alternative” music download site and download to your hearts content.

Beggers belief how this slipped through the net of Apple’s stringent review process. The app features an in-built media player to listen to your downloaded tracks. There are two versions of the app, the pro version which is on sale for £0.69 ($0.99) and the free version which limits you to only being able to store 15 songs.

All in all the app is a little clunky in the way you source the music but it gets the job done.

Apple has just  Released IOS 4.3.5 for your Devices. If you Jailbreak I would keep away from this update because there is no jailbreak by the Dev teamm as of yet.

We will update you when and if a Jailbreak comes out. To download this update open up iTunes and click Check For Update. Heres whats new.

So after about 3 hours of updating my iDevices this evening and Jailbreaking them it seems that I have wasted my time.

It seems that Apple may have done something under the hud that is affecting sandboxing.

Normal stock apps load fine after the Jailbreak process, but when you go to launch an App from the App Store thats where the problem appears. Once you go to open one of these Apps it immediately crashes.

Like we have always said, these Jailbreaks for beta firmwares are not for normal users and only for developers to get their stuff to work when iOS 5 drops to the public.

As soon as we know more about this situation we will let you know.

On this very day back in 2008, Steve Jobs announced the App Store. It was the day before the iPhone 3G launch. Steve Jobs himself and his team didn’t know that the App Sore will be so successful back in 2008.

Apple’s App Store has generated 15 billion downloads since its launch on July 10, 2008.

The App Store now offers more than 425,000 apps, 100,000 of which are created specifically for the iPad.

When the App store was released back in 2008 it set the whole new platform in the way that “apps” are installed onto smart phones. Even other companies have jumped on the “App Store” bandwagon.

Google+ is one of the hottest new things to hit the net.

If you don’t know much about it here is a brief description of it. Its Googles new Social networking project and what I have seen of it, it kinda looks like FaceBook but with added features, such as Circles (Groups if you where).

Google+ is currently in beta testing and requires an invite to sign up (no we don’t have any invites nor have we been invited to us it), but it seems that Google already have the iOS app developed and have sent it to Apple for their approval.

Here is what Google technician Erica Joy revealed on Google+

the Google+ iPhone app has been submitted to the App store (no not today, sometime prior to today) and is awaiting approval.

So it seems that as soon and Google+ goes live and members of the public will be able to use it, they will also be able to stay connected on their iDevices.

It usually takes Apple around 2-3 weeks to approve an App, but this one may be quicker or slower depending on if Google want it released the same time as Google+ goes live.

Lets hope that Google get the iOS right and without bugs unlike the FaceBook did with their app!

SpringPrefs displays the device’s IP, Wi-Fi IP and its current firmware version. It also tells how much free RAM is available on the device. The developer GreySyntax tweeted today that the widget won’t be released until Apple’s iOS 5 NDA. im keeping this on

Step 1: Install MobileTerminal app which is found in Cydia, and then set up iPhone Explorer on your computer (find out how here). Once you are done with that, plug your device into your computer.

Step 2: Now on your computer, download this .deb file, then run iPhone Explorer and copy/paste the file you’ve just downloaded into /var/mobile directory.

Step 3: To install this widget for iOS 5’s Notification Center, launch MobileTerminal and switch to administrator mode, by typing login, followed by root. A MacRumors reader discovered the following statement on iTunes’ update page:

Or if your device has Automatic Download enabled for Apps, your updates will download to your device without having to sync.

The capability doesn’t exits on IOS yet. At the moment you have to sync your iDevice to iTunes to get the update I think this will all change in ios 5. What I mean is that the AppStore on your iDevice will Automatic download the updates in iOS 5 without you knowing.

I have 1 thing that I hate about the automatic downloading the updates is when it is a update I like to see what’s new in the update. Apple might have a on and off switch toggle in IOS5.
