Technika Dock for iPhone/iPod

Article by on Tuesday, 29 December 2009

Well for Christmas this year I thought I would treat myself to a new iPhone accessory, so that’s exactly what I did.

I have always wanted a video dock for my iPhone as I enjoy watching films in bed (all my films are converted for iPhone, I hate having DVDs all over the place) , but some times watching them on the iPhone screen is a bit annoying. I have looked at many video iPhone docks that there are out there but while in Tesco Christmas Eve-Eve I noticed this little beauty.

The Technika Universal Dock works with both iPhone 3G & 3GS, iPod Touch 2G and iPod Nano 4G.

The kit comes with a docking station, remote, RCA leads (RED, WHITE, YELLOW) mains adapter and dock adapter for the different devices that it supports.

Not only does the dock allow the iDevice to play audio and video but it also charges it at the same time (double bonus)

I have to say that this is the easiest bit of kit to set up just plug the bits into the right part of your TV and into the wall and then your iDevice into the dock and your set to watch movies to your harts content.

The remote for the unit has all the usual features play, pause, skip, but also offers a standby button that turns the dock off, puts the iDevice to sleep but still enables the device to charge. The remote also allows users to skip through the different iPod menus, enables repeat and shuffle and change the volume. In my opinion the remote works excellently even from a distance.

All in all for £25 this has to be one of the best accessories that I have ever bought. I am even considering buying another for the front room so that I don’t have to stream movies through my Wii from my laptop.

The only advice that the box for the device states is that “Audio out only” may not work through all TV sets and that you may need to connect to a Hi-FI (but i think that if you have an up-to date TV then you wont have a problem) .

The picture quality from the unit is excellent, just like watching it on your iDevice.

I would say that if you travel a lot and find yourself staying in many hotel rooms then this would be a piece of kit that you would not mind taking with you to hook up to the hotel TV. The unit is light weight and easily portable.

I give this Accessory 5 iPhones
