IMG_0301Tonight MediaPhone have released their newest app called SmartScreen.

SmartScreen enables you to turn your lockscreen into a dashboard like feature with a little help from a few widgets.

Now there are 2 versions of SmartScreen available the first is free (SmartScreen Lite) and the other is $5:00.

SmartScreen Lite allows up to 3 widgets to be enabled while the $5 version allows unlimited widgets and up to 8 different pages. The paid version also adds features such as:

  • Controls Screen
  • iPod Shake to Shuffle
  • New features updates

SmartScreen an application for the iPhone and iPod touch that will allow informational widgets to be placed and used on the lock screen.

Widgets are similar to those offered by Apple’s “Dashboard” and they follow familiar look and feel. The widgets can be rearranged on the lock screen by using a ‘tap and hold to move’ action that is often used by to iPhone users (when moving icons around the home screen).

SmartScreen provides access to Controls Screen with toggles for wireless interfaces, services and iPod control via double tapping Home button on the lock screen.

The new app is available now in Cydia and along with it widgets such as Clock, Dev-team update, Calculator, Notes. MediaPhone also had this to say on twitter just after the apps release:

All widgets from Gallery will be available later. It depends from 3rd party developers, cause it’s not our widgets

There could be a few tweaks in my opinion to SmartScreen such as the ability to have the first lockscreen page clear of widgets.

There are a few other apps that Smartscreen does not yet work with such as Cydget and intelliscreen to name a few.

I hope that there will be a few more widgets added in the nest couple of days and that the MediaPhone team update app to be compatible with other apps and that they add the ability to have a clear first lockscreen.

Keep up the good work thou guys @ MediaPhone.
