Foxconn “Loses” iPhone 5 Prototype!

Article by on Wednesday, 28 September 2011

Ever wondered where all those Chinese case companies got the design for those all new iPhone 5 cases well a report last night pointed to a possibility.

MICGadget reported that the manufacturing company that Apple uses to make the iPhone – Foxconn managed to “lose” an iPhone 5 prototype!

The report goes a like this…

With its past experience, one might think Apple would have been able to track that prototype down in a heartbeat. However, Apple was outsmarted. The person who had access to the prototype wiped the phone’s software, thus disabling the GPS hardware needed to track it down. It was then allegedly sold to one of the iPhone case manufacturers for RMB ¥20,000 (about $3,100). We were told that Foxconn was aware of the loss and had penalized internal management for the incident. We also heard from another source that the person who “lost” it was paid to do so.

Its not the first time that an Apple prototype has gone missing, remember last year and the Gizmodo incident and then again reports of another stolen device this year once again in a bar.

Its still not sure in the iPhone 5 (or 4S) will look like the purported cases make out, I guess we will just have to wait another 5 more days.
