Developer hints 4.0 round the corner

Article by on Friday, 15 January 2010

So with all the rumours of an Apple tablet appearing at the event on 27th Jan, iPhone rumours have been slower than usual, but now they are slowly starting to come through, and this one could be more exciting than others.

Rick Broida with CNet’s iPhone Atlas said Friday that he received an e-mail from a “prominent app developer” regarding an update to the iPhone operating system. “Just wanted to give you a heads up that we’ve submitted an updated app for the new iPhone OS 4.0 software,” the e-mail allegedly said.

Its was rumoured earlier this month that the 27th Jan event could see the release of the 4.0 firmware. Rumours have even stated that the new version of the SDK includes a “simulator” that makes it easy for developers to adapt to different screen resolutions.

This week, one rumor claimed that Apple has not issued any updates for the iPhone in some time because the next version has many tablet-related references that the company did not want to leak in advance of its planned unveiling.
