3GUrestrictor Gets A Needed Upgrade

Article by on Sunday, 22 November 2009

A not surprising update became available this week in Cydia for 3GUnrestrictor, a very useful app that tricks apps into thinking they are on wifi rather than 3G or Edge etc.
We were expecting this due to My3G being released last week which boasts extra functionality.
With version 2.0 of 3GUnrestrictor comes the ability to have it alert you when an app is checking whether it is on wifi or not. This is particularly useful as before it was a little hit and miss and probably saw most people unrestricting ALL of their apps just in case they missed one that actually needed it.
A toggle is also added to SBSettings so that you can disable it all-together if you find that it’s just too slow on 3G.
We have seen quite a few instances like this recently with long serving apps being outdone by new ones, forcing the developers to “stand and deliver”, and bring the same or better functionality in the apps we know and love.
