Steam App comes to iOS
When Microsoft released their XBox live companion App it was only a matter of time before other gaming platforms followed suit, and now it appears Valve have done the same by releasing a Steam App.
If you’re a PC gamer, or you occasionally play games on a PC/Mac, the chances are you’ve heard of Steam. Originally it was used by fans of Half Life 2 but since it’s creation the Steam platform has grown into the largest and most influential of all the PC digital distribution stores.
On first impressions the Steam App seems to be far more functional than Microsoft’s as it allows users to chat to their friends through the Steam Chat feature and you can also get entire access to the Steam store. Similarly to the XBox App users can also browse through their friends to see who is online and playing what.
At the moment the App doesn’t deliver mobile games for iOS, or Android, but by releasing the App over multiple mobile platforms it clears the way for any future additions which Valve decide to make.
At the moment, the App is in a closed BETA stage. This means that only a select lucky few are able to get passed the login screen and the majority of us will get a message saying Valve has “made a note of your account and will be sending out more invites shortly.”
The Steam App is currently available to download, though, and a final release should be heading our way shortly.
