[Review] Build-A-Lot – Become Your Own Property Tycoon!!
Today I am going to review the game Build-a-Lot. It has been created by Glu and you can visit their website here.
This game is classed as a Strategy game and is available in the App Store for £1.19.
The object of this game is to buy, build and sell properties within a variety of towns and neighbourhoods. As you progress through the game the buildings become more expensive and much more exclusive. On some levels you are required to build Cinemas, Ice Rinks, Castles and Mansions.
You can either choose to play the career mode which has 35 levels or you can play casual against the clock.
When starting the career game, a message will pop up in the top right hand corner and will give you instructions of what you need to achieve. This may also pop up whilst you are playing and request more from you.
You are able to repair, demolish, upgrade, inspect and sell your properties in order to gain more money.
Once the game has started it will show you the town or neighbourhood and will already have some buildings constructed. The areas outlined in blue are the ones you own and can either build on them, with the specific requirements or you can sell the property.
To build just click on the specific plot of land and then click in the green icon with the house on it, it will give you a choice of buildings you can afford to build. If you wish to sell just click on the blue icon and wait for an offer to come up, where you can either accept or decline.
At the bottom you will see the different coloured tabs:
The Green tab shows you how much money you have, your income and your potential income once all jobs and repairs have been carried out. When the green bar on the left turns yellow and reaches the end, this means you have collected the rent and you will see your money increase. On the right side it gives you a list of the things you need to achieve so you can refer back to it.
The Yellow tab enables you to train more workers so that jobs can be carried out quicker.
The Red tab is where you can buy materials from so you can build and repair.
The Blue tab is called the ‘Blueprints’ you may need to draft one of these before being able to have any access to some of the exclusive buildings.
I found this game to be highly entertaining and I would play this for hours on end, it is very addictive. I am sad that I have completed it, but cannot wait to get started on Build-a-Lot 2.
Some levels I found really difficult and would have to keep trying them over and over again, but you just need to remember what you have done previously. I would recommend this game to anyone who enjoys playing strategy games or anyone who enjoys a challenge.
