Revi-Krs: Go Purchase It, Right Now!
*Disclaimer: I am using Gridlock, Infinifolders and, iFile – that does not mean you have to. I also go through how to set up EVERYTHING at the end of the article. If you are having trouble with the background changing with you click on a folder, I have your answer!*
Howdy all, hope everything is going well!
Recently I was browsing through Cydia looking for a new theme. I came across one that I had to share with you because simply put it is boss. Ya, boss. Well enough beating around the bush, lets review this theme!
Starting from the lockscreen you will notice two separate widgets. Under the programming of the HTML file they are really one but they do different things. The one on the right gives you the weather of your location that you choose and on the left you can put a picture of anything you want. The lockscreen slider is also different. Same length to slide, just smaller. The clock has also been moved down into the empty space (clock hide is required here) and above that is a very nice weekly calender. To finish it off the battery and lock icon are different in the status bar, with a little blue hint to it. The WiFi, 3G and, Signal Bars are also themed, very nicely.
The springboard is very similar to the lockscreen as the two widgets are now there along with the calender. Instead of a 4×4 layout, it is now compressed to a 4×2 layout. This is why I use inifinifolders. On the first page i like to put the 8 things that I need most, apps or folders. On the second page I have everything that did not make the first page but I have them organized into four folders. Apps, Cydia Apps, Games A – M and, Games N – Z. It just makes things easier to navigate. The theme also comes with a loading screen that just says loading on it in small letters across the middle-ish of the loading screen. This is nice because it is not dedicated to one app, so you can copy it over into a new part of the theme that you created and use it. This way, it will look flawless throughout.
The rest of the theme is heavily UI themed and it flows throughout. Nothing looks out of place. Below are some screenshots taking you through various parts of the theme. Ill try not to spoil it for you too much but I know what needs to be seen to make you buy the theme. Look for the UI changes in the status bar and in the bars below the apps with different options. The music player speaks for itself. Finally, in the messaging app i have gone with a lighter background just to make it easier on my color blind eyes. The default is just a darker one, much like the background.
Heres how you can set up your weather widget: Lockscreen and Homescreen
Go to weather.yahoo.com and search your location. In the URL that it takes you to after your search, there is a section with a bunch of numbers in it, right after the city. It would look something like
…../los-angeles/123456789/
Then you navigate via your SSH tool with this path.
var/stash/themes/revi-krs
Open the Lockbackground.html file and search for “var locale” (without quotations). You will see
var locale = ’3534′
Delete ’3534′ (With the markers) and replace it with ‘########” – The # is the number sequence you took from the URL.
You must also decide if you want to use Celsius and/or real feel. You can change that by changine
var celsius = ‘false’ to ‘true’. Same thing goes for real feel.
Here is how to edit the image to the left on the weather widget
This can be done by setting background in your settings app. The wallpaper file inside the the will override your set wallpaper.
Some of you out there might have a problem though when opening a folder. If you do that, the background changes to the background that you have set by your settings app and then changed back when you close the folder. To fix that we have to do a few steps
1) Using iFile navigate to var/stash/themes/revi-krs and open the wallpaper file for your phone. Tap on the screen once so the UI goes away and take a screenshot. Set that as your wallpaper in the settings app
2) Pick the photo you want to appear on your lockscreen and homescreen. Create a new theme on your device and copy that photo into the theme.
3) open up to revi-krs and open the lockbackground.html file. search for
4) scroll down one line and look for src=”/var……
5)edit that file path to the file path of the theme you created in step two. The final / should be dedicated to the name of the image in the theme.
-I have seen different extensions to the themes folder, so double check that before you create the path.
-For example my path is var/stash/Themes.UW9C1n/revi-krs background/1.png
