Red Apple Tabs!

Article by on Saturday, 5 June 2010

We all love to use our iPhones and most of us, when using them, take great care. As we all know with most electrical equipment, it should not be used near water, but a few strange things are happening to the red water sensors thy Apple places in all iPhones.

If you didn’t know the Apple iPhone has 4 liquid sensors, 2 on the inside of the phone and 2 that can be seen externally. It is these external sensors that are causing some Apple customers a few problems.

The 2 liquid sensors that can be seen externally are located in the headphone jack port and the docking port. If these get wet then they turn red, if you then try to claim on your warranty or Apple Care then you’ll be unlucky.

Reports all over the internet are that iPhones are showing either one or both of these indicators as red even if they have not come into contact with water. The idea behind the sensors after all is to stop people getting their water-damaged iPhones replaced under warranty.

A report on watchdog this week showed that when the iPhones in question were taken apart and the 2 internal sensors were not showing contact with water, however, Apple did not care about this. They took 50 iPhones at random off the street and 3 of them showed at least 1 of the external indicators as red, however the owners were pretty sure that they have never come in contact with any water.
