Lingual – First Plugin for Assistant Extensions Released

As we reported yesterday Assistant Extensions is a developer tool that provides an easy way to create plugins for use with Siri. Built in to the tool already is the ability to open apps, tweet and change toggles and system settings.

Today sees the release of the first plugin called “Lingual”. Developed by the guys over at CodeThemed, Lingual enhances Siri’s ability to translate what you say into another language.

Normally translations are handled by Wolfram Alpha, but with Lingual installed you get the answer directly from Siri, with a great native looking UI too. You simply ask siri “What is (word/sentence/phrase) in (language)” or “Translate (word/sentence/phrase) to (language)”. Lingual boasts the ability to translate to over 30 languages and is completely free from Cydia.
