Jalibreaking is Legal!

Article by on Monday, 26 July 2010

So today the US Government announced that under New US Federal Law that Jailbreaking is Legal.

The Library of Congress Copyright Office reviews and authorizes exemptions every three years to ensure that the law does not prevent certain non-infringing use of copyright-protected material.

They have stated today that, along with other things, Jaibreaking and Unlocking your iPhone does not break the law.

Now I’m not sure who other than Apple thought that Jailbreaking was illegal but it didn’t seem that around 9% (6 million) iPhone users cared.

So my question to you is this, what do you think Apple (Steve Jobs) will think about this? Will Apple fight this, and what will it mean in other countries that sell the iPhone, will they follow the US lead?

Let us know what you think about this in the comments below, and oh one more thing, happy Jailbreaking!!
