iPhone OS 4.0 Jailbreak Showcased…But This Is Different!!

Article by on Wednesday, 14 April 2010

An iPhone developer called DarkMalloc posted a video today showing an iPhone 3G running 4.0 beta 1, jailbroken and using Multitasking! But hold on….Apple said we can’t do that!!

Unlike the jailbreak methods shown by MuscleNerd and GeoHot last week, this one claims not to use a new exploit, but update the device in such a way that the jailbreak is kept intact.

This method has been worked on by DarkMalloc, lilstevie and iH8Sn0w. For reasons explained below, this method will NOT be released to the general populous;

1. It cannot restore on a PC, only a Mac can. There is no way to make it run on a PC.
2. Its very very buggy
3. This is meant for developers to test new api’s.
4. it has a 58% success restore rate.
5. It would promote more piracy. Meaning users would illegally download the ipsw and bypass the UDID trap.

It has been a long time since there has been so many new ways to jailbreak all surfacing at the same time, but this just means that Apple has their work cut out to find them. Like you, we hope they don’t and miss at least one exploit.

Below is the video posted by DarkMalloc.
