iOS Beta 7 adds iTunes WiFi Sync to Multiple Computers

Article by on Friday, 2 September 2011

Whilst I was in London this week, iOS 5 Beta 7 was released to developers. Being a geek (and a nob) this gave me the perfect excuse to purchase hotel wifi for 2 hours at £4 (what?!) just to download it after midnight when back from the pub.
This leads me to think, OTA updates are brilliant, but this has to be done via Wi-fi. I hope mobile operators support OTA and don’t take it out our allowance so Apple can say “Your network says yes” and let us download the updates over 3G… Anyhow.

Beta 7 update mainly fixes lots of bugs but one feature that many have been questioning is how do you sync to multiple macs via iTunes Wifi sync?

Well – Now we know! This has now been added to iOS5. For each mac you can choose what syncs to it. Music on one, photos on the other. Brilliant!

Also added, You can now select text and under the black popup you are able to choose “Speak” which says the text highlighted, if enabled in the accessibility settings. Nuance, in case you didn’t figure that out. And it actually is understandable! At least, it knows how to swear in my testing….

Sadly not much else new is to announce which leads me to think that Apple are pretty damn close to getting this finalised.

Are you looking forward to it?
