Greenpois0n userland exploit on its way for iOS5.

Article by on Saturday, 17 September 2011

Just a small note for jailbreakers. Speaking at todays MyGreatFest, Joshua Hill (@P0sixninja) announced that they have in place “The new Greenpois0n” which is based on a userland exploit for the next iOS.
He said that the A5 chip, which is currently in the iPad 2 has “been discovered to have five exploits.” If the iPhone 5 has the same chip, this could prove that both iPad 2 and iPhone 5 could be permanently jailbroken via userland exploits. But we will have to wait and see!

When questioned whether they are ready for the iPhone 5 release. Joshua is “very prepared” and positive.

Old jailbreak for the iPod Touch 2g still work on iOS5.

One audience member asked “Are you gonna put a new UI on Greenpois0n because its kind of basic?” which was surrounded by laughter and “ooohhhh”‘s. The basic answer is no. Simple as possible just to do what it needs to do. They are developers, not designers.

Whether they will release this when iOS5 is released or when iPhone 5/4S is released is unknown. But it is in creation.

Joshua explains that they’d rather wait for devices and exploit them, than the software. Because basically the software can change.
This may indicate that the new Greenpois0n for iOS5 will be tethered, which Joshua understood earlier in his presentation that no one likes.

The creator of ThemeIt is wondering why or when the developers will incorporate ThemeIt into their jailbreaks. Joshua simply replies no. He just wants to keep it as simple as possible.
