Badges! Edit your badges, clear your badges, fix your badges – Badges, badges, badges!
This is perhaps one of those tweaks that should have been released back in iOS 3.0, but for whatever reason wasn’t. I have personally learned to SSH like a master when it comes to disabling badges in Cydia/Rock, using complex editing methods to trick apps into thinking I have the current version of a particular download. And sometimes, Cydia will mess up, or Rock will mess up, and continue telling me that I have pending updates (via badges) when I in fact, do not. This tweak is free, and quite simply, allows you to EDIT your badges, on ANY app.
Go to Cydia, and download “Badges” from the modmyi source. Its brought to you by Dan Zimmerman. Install it, and then respring your iDevice. Now, it will give you a splash screen with instructions. I’ll simplify what the screen says:
To activate the badges tweak, simply tap and hold any icon on your springboard. When they start to wiggle, double-tap them, and a screen will pop up, asking you what you want to enter into the field. Whatever you enter will be displayed once you tap “OK”.
If you have an app that you want to CLEAR the badge for (i.e. deleting those stupid, persistent little badges) simply tap on the “Clear” button, then tap “OK”, and it’s as simple as that. See some screenshots below.
