3G iPhone may be no more!

Article by on Tuesday, 25 May 2010

As we are all aware, the WWDC conference is due to be held on June 7th, where Apple will be announcing the iPhone 4G/HD.

Now if we do see the iPhone 4th gen model released, this will mean that there could potentially be 3 generations of iPhone on the market at the same time, the 3G, 3GS and 4G/HD. This is very unlikely to be the case.

Now one thing that is most likely to happen is that that the 3G iPhone will be discontinued and the 16GB 3GS will be the base model iPhone.

The is what seems to be happening. Rumours are circulating that Apple have stopped supplying AT&T stores with the 3G, and O2 have made it impossible to purchase the 3G online.

Engadget now also report that Walmart are selling the iPhone 3GS for $97 (contract)

This is not shocking as the 3G has low Ram and is now 2 Years old, even Apple themselves have stopped supporting the model in its entirety through the OS 4.0 release (no multitasking for 3G users).

Huge advancements in technology mean that it’s never been cheaper to get yourself a 3g mobile phone. Check out Phones4u and pick up what is still a pretty powerful piece of kit.
