20MB Download Now Over 3G

Article by on Saturday, 20 February 2010

To make way for the iPad release, Apple and the Carriers have got together and doubled the size limit on apps that can be downloaded over the 3G network to 20MB. Previously users were prompted to use a Wi-Fi connection or iTunes to download applications larger than 10MB.

The new limit wasn’t publicly broadcast, but it is felt that the new limit will allow iPad users to download apps that run at a higher res compared to there iPhone sisters and therefore would be a larger file size.

The higher download limit will also apply to audio and video podcasts.
