RedSn0w 0.9.8b6 Released

Article by on Tuesday, 23 August 2011

Earlier today the Dev-Team released and update to the Jailbreak for iOS 5 beta 6.

Code named “JetBlue Edition” this version allows users to Jailbreak iOS 5 beta 6 in a tethered way.

A tethered Jailbreak needs a user to have their device contacted to a computer to boot the device.

RedSn0w 0.9.8b6 “JetBlue Edition” comes with instructions that are not normal for a Jailbreak to have.

Please read carefully

(1) Please let your device boot normally to IOS5b6 and do a clean shutdown (slide to power off) before jailbreaking.

(2) Boot logos have intentionally been disabled for now, so you’ll see a black screen on tethered boots (you can re-enable logos or verbose boot with command-line options if you really want them back).

The reason for the clean shutdown before Jailbreaking is because as the Dev-Team put it “ increased sensitivity to abrupt filesystem shutdowns in IOS5b6″

Please remember that iOS 5 is in beta and is only meant for developers as is this Jailbreak.

You can download the Jailbreak from here for Mac, and here for Windows.
